From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
